SPORTS LEGENDS TO RECEIVE NATIONAL HONOR AT ATHLETES IN ACTION NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS EVENT

Former US National gymnast Kim Anthony and former NFL Quarterback Frank Reich to be inducted into the AIA Hall of Champions May 5th, 2011, at the Shindler Banquet Center in Xenia, OH.

Athletes in Action (AIA) and HiFive Development Services, in conjunction with Country Club of the North, are pleased to announce the 2011 AIA Hall of Faith inductees – Kim Anthony and Frank Reich. Emcee for the event will be Anthony Munoz.

Kim Anthony is a former US National gymnast, four-time national champion, six-time All-American, and a UCLA Hall of Fame inductee. Currently, she is a motivational speaker, speaking to audiences ranging from at-risk youths to the incarcerated, to professional athletes and executives. She also wrote an autobiography titled Unfavorable Odds. Reich was an NFL quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, and Detroit Lions. Reich has the distinction of having led his team to the biggest post-season comeback victory in both collegiate and professional football. Currently, Reich is the quarterbacks coach for the Indianapolis Colts and is active as a motivational speaker.

The Night of Champions honors one male and one female chosen from the world of sports for their faith, leadership, character and integrity on and off the field of competition. This year, the event will take place at 7:00pm at the AIA World Headquarters and Resource Center in Xenia, OH. Past recipients include Anthony Munoz, Kay Yow, John Wooden, Madeline Manning Mims, Bart Starr, Leah O’Brien-Damico, Ruth Riley, and John Peterson. Night of Champions attracts a select audience of community, civic, sport, celebrity, and business leaders from around the country.

Athletes in Action’s headquarters and World Training and Resource Center are based in Xenia, Ohio. The mission of Athletes in Action is to build spiritual movements through the platform of sport. Since 1966, AIA uses sports teams to minister to people with questions of faith in 80 countries, on 125 college campuses, and on 35 professional sports teams.
