SPORTS LEGENDS TO RECEIVE NATIONAL HONOR AT ATHLETES IN ACTION NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS EVENT
Chairman of USA Basketball and former owner of the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks, Jerry Colangelo, and NCAA Division II Coach of the Year, Sue Ramsey, to be inducted into the Athletes in Action Hall of Faith in Xenia, Ohio on May 9th, 2013
MASON, OH., May 1, 2013 — HiFive Development Services is proud to sponsor the 2013 Athletes in Action (AIA) Night of Champions “Hall of Faith” awards banquet. This year’s inductees are Sue Ramsey and Jerry Colangelo. Emcees for the event will be Anthony Munoz, Brad Johansen and Ed Uszynski.
Sue Ramsey is the head Women’s Basketball Coach at Ashland University, where she led the Ashland Lady Eagles to the NCAA Division II National Championship in 2013. Following the 2011-2012 season, Sue was named the NCAA Division II Coach of the Year.
Jerry Colangelo is the current Chairman of USA Basketball. Since Colangelo took charge of the national team in 2005, the USA men have compiled a remarkable 62-1 win-loss record and have claimed gold medal finishes at the 2012 London Olympics, 2010 FIBA World Championship, 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2007 FIBA Americas Championship. He formerly owned the Phoenix Suns of the NBA, the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA, and the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball. As a student at the University of Illinois, he earned All-Big Ten honors, captained the Illini as a senior and was later inducted into the Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame.
The Night of Champions honors one male and one female chosen from the world of sports for their faith, leadership, character and integrity on and off the field of competition. The event will take place at 7pm on May 9th at the AIA World Headquarters and Resource Center in Xenia, OH. Past recipients include Anthony Munoz, Kay Yow, John Wooden, Bart Starr, Ruth Riley, Frank Reich, Kim Anthony and Clark Kellogg. Night of Champions attracts a select audience of community, civic, sport, celebrity, and business leaders from around the country.
Athletes in Action’s headquarters and World Training and Resource Center are based in Xenia, Ohio. The mission of Athletes in Action is to build spiritual movements through the platform of sport. Since 1966, AIA uses sports teams to minister to people with questions of faith in over 90 countries, 125 college campuses, and 35 professional sports teams.
