10 Aug Groundbreaking on New “Green” Hotel Project
Holiday Inn Express & Suites project also breaks new ground with energy efficient innovations, becoming the area’s first Eco-Friendly hotel
A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. August 26 at 7701 Washington Village Drive in Dayton, Ohio, 45459 for a new Holiday Inn Express & Suites hotel. Light refreshments will be served. This hotel, located next to the Chophouse, will be the area’s first eco-friendly hotel.
The 65,000 sq ft hotel will have 111 guest rooms, including an indoor pool and spa, fitness room, boardroom and more than 1,200 sq ft of meeting space. The hotel will offer modern and convenient guest and meeting accommodations that are both upscale and affordable.
Energy efficiency and the use of “green” innovations to deliver the more eco-friendly hotel were a major part of project planning. Solar panels on the roof will support water heating, an energy wheel will conserve heating and cooling energy, and an energy management system will maximize energy savings. Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) are being used for the exterior walls, and will improve insulation well above normal commercial standards in the hotel industry.

The hotel will be owned and operated by Middletown Hotel Management, located in Centerville, Ohio. HiFive Development Services, located in Mason, Ohio, is designing and building the hotel.
